Nondiffusive lattice thermal transport in Si-Ge alloy nanowires

Published in Physical Review B, 2016

In this simulation study, we present a calculation of the lattice thermal conductivity of Si-Ge nanowires. We find that phonon transport in Si-Ge nanowires is neither entirely ballistic nor diffusive; instead, it falls into an intermediate regime called superdiffusion where thermal conductivity scales with the length of the nanowire.

Thermal conductance G, as a function of length and varying diameter, roughness, and composition.
